The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for an Extension Associate – Work Incentives Associate in the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability in the Extension/Outreach Division.


Our Team:

The Yang-Tan Institute (YTI) conducts research and provides continuing education and technical assistance on many aspects of disability in the workplace. Researchers and practitioners at YTI have helped companies, labor organizations, government agencies, schools, and communities throughout the United States and abroad to accommodate and integrate individuals with disabilities. Our team consults with business and industry, and with policy makers, educators, disability advocates, and rehabilitation practitioners.


What you will do:

This position works in partnership with the Program Director to expand the Income and Benefits focus area within YTI.  This includes all grant and contract-sponsored initiatives in this focus area, as well as fee-for-service efforts. This will include:

  • Collaborate in the support and development of the Work Incentive Practitioner – Certification (WIP-C), Youth Credentialing (YOUTH-C) and Veterans Credentialing (VET-C) programs.
  • Outreach, marketing and recruitment for all publicly-offered income and benefit training programs.
  • Relationship building with federal, state and local agencies to market and contract for fee-for-service lines of programming.
  • Collaboration and oversight with all related personnel assigned to work in the Income and Benefits focus area.
  • Assist Director with the support of Income and Benefits Planners who attend the YTI Online course.
     

Extension Associate is a full-time, academic, non-tenure track, term position with an initial appointment through June 30, 2024. The position may be re-appointed based on recommendations by the appropriate YTI Leadership and Senior Associate Dean for Outreach, as well as available funding and work.

What we need:

  • Advanced degree (Master's, doctoral, or Juris Doctor) in related subject matter expertise (industrial and labor relations, employment or labor law, human resources /management /business, organizational behavior/change, economics, workforce development, vocational rehabilitation, occupational medicine/workplace safety and health, education, diversity/inclusion, social programming providing cash, health and other benefits, etc.).
  • Minimum of three to five years demonstrated experience in large project management (e.g. several staff and budgets exceeding $500,000).
  • Professional credentials in Benefits Planning disciplinary area, such as appropriate state and national licensure, certifications, etc., as well as 3 – 5 years working with and teaching benefits planning materials and providing technical assistance to planners in the field.
  • Minimum of three to five years demonstrated experience in successful grant writing and grant management.
  • Minimum of two to five years’ experience with distance learning.
  • Occasional travel required.

You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in related field.
  • Minimum of three to five years demonstrated experience in large project management (e.g. several staff and budgets exceeding $500,000).
  • Professional credentials in Benefits Planning disciplinary area, such as appropriate state and national licensure, certifications, etc., as well as 3 – 5 years working with and teaching benefits planning materials and providing technical assistance to planners in the field.
  • Minimum of three to five years demonstrated experience in successful grant writing and grant management.
  • Minimum of two to five years’ experience with distance learning.

Salary $69,500 to $85,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Pay Range:

$46,500.00 - $85,500.00

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.
  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
  • Unique applicable skills.
