As part of the university's comprehensive vaccination program, all Cornell employees are required to have and provide proof of an FDA-or WHO-authorized or approved COVID-19 primary vaccination or have obtained a university-approved disability/medical or religious exemption, regardless of their role and work location.

New hires are required to provide documentation showing primary vaccination status (that is, completion of two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one shot of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson) before their first day of work. If a new hire's vaccination is not complete or information is not received by their start date, the first day of work will be delayed. It is possible in some cases that an offer of employment may be withdrawn.

The Department of Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University invites applications for a tenure track or clinical track faculty position in the Section of Dermatology. This will result in a total of two full-time and one part-time faculty members in the section with the goals of supporting robust pre-clinical and clinical research programs, providing excellent clinical/diagnostic services in the Hospital and College, and maintaining a strong teaching and outreach program.

Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine is a fulfilling place to work with ample opportunities for a robust and rewarding career for a clinical and research oriented faculty member. The teaching hospital provides a diverse and challenging small and large animal caseload, and is well-equipped and supported for clinical research. Extensive opportunities for independent and collaborative research exist at the Veterinary College and throughout the University, including Weill Medical College and technology campuses in New York City.  Candidates with a special interest in equine dermatology can find unique opportunities for developing their clinical and research interests at our satellite equine referral hospital on the backstretch of the Belmont racetrack.

Candidates with a small animal focus can develop consultation arrangements and collaborative research opportunities with the college-owned and affiliated small animal specialty practice in Stamford, Connecticut.

Candidates must have a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Board certification in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology or the European College of Veterinary Dermatology is preferred, but candidates who have completed or who will be completing an approved residency within a year will be considered, if prior research experience is demonstrated. An advanced degree (PhD) or other research training is desirable but not required for the tenure-track faculty position.

Clinical teaching and service in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, lecture and laboratory instruction of veterinary students and house officers, and the establishment of an independent research program (for a tenure track position) are expected. Distribution of effort in the Section and Department will be determined in accordance with the position (clinical track or tenure track), service needs, academic priorities, and the candidate’s expertise and academic goals in dermatology.

Clinical duties include the examination of all animals with skin disease presented to the CUHA.  The dermatology clinicians have primary case responsibility for dogs and cats examined in the dermatology clinic.  The dermatology service also collaborates extensively on cases under the management of other services and can include dogs, cats, exotic and zoo species, horses, wildlife, and the spectrum of farm animals.

Beyond clinical duties, the on-duty faculty member is responsible for phone or internet consultations with regional veterinarians; leads case and didactic rounds with the students, interns and residents assigned to the service; and has an active role in the weekly dermatohistopathology rounds of the pathology service. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all of the sections in the Hospital.

Salary, rank, and title will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
