Tenure-Track Faculty Position, Cornell University – Cornell Tech campus

The School of Operations Research and Information Engineering at Cornell University invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position at Cornell Tech, Cornell University's new campus in New York City. Cornell Tech is a graduate research and education campus focused on creating pioneering leaders and technologies for the digital age.

We welcome exceptional applicants in all research areas and at all levels of seniority. We are particularly interested in applicants from areas broadly relevant to the current research trajectories and priorities at the Cornell Tech campus while addressing the big challenges of our societies, such as transportation, healthcare, urban infrastructure, supply chains and logistics.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. In keeping with the mission of Cornell Tech, applicants must also have a strong interest in activities that reach beyond academia for external engagement and impact, in areas that may include technology commercialization and entrepreneurship, or activities with non-profit organizations, government and policy issues, international programs, or pre-college (K-12) education. Applicants for senior positions should have a demonstrated track record of such external engagement.

Cornell ORIE is a diverse group of high-quality researchers and educators interested in probability, optimization, statistics, machine learning, simulation, game theory, and a wide array of applications such as health care, e-commerce, supply chains, scheduling, manufacturing, transportation systems, financial engineering, service systems and network science. We value mathematical and technical depth and innovation, and experience with applications and practice. Ideal candidates will have correspondingly broad training and interests.

Please apply online at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/22037. We will begin reviewing candidates immediately and continue until the position is filled.

A complete application should include a cover letter, CV, and three brief statements (1-2 pages per statement): (1) a research statement, (2) a teaching statement, and (3) a statement of contributions to diversity. Within a clearly identified subsection of the Research Statement, the candidate should address prior accomplishments and future plans related to their external engagement, that is, the direct commercial and/or societal impact of their research. Candidates are encouraged to review Cornell University’s guidance for writing diversity statements as well as their evaluation considerations. In addition to these statements, candidates should include a copy of their most significant research publications, a list of the full contact information for three references, and, for junior applicants, a doctoral transcript.

Cornell University embraces diversity and seeks candidates who will contribute to a climate that supports students, faculty and staff of all identities and backgrounds. We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented and/or marginalized identities to apply.
