The Cornell Play and Learning Lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join several ongoing projects, including an NSF-funded multi-lab investigation into the development of mental rotation and related cognitive skills. This position will be supervised by Dr. Marianella Casasola, Professor in the Department of Psychology and Lead Investigator of the Cornell Play and Learning Lab.

The Postdoctoral Associate will contribute to the ongoing projects and will oversee data collection, data analysis and manuscript preparation. The position is fully funded for one year with the potential for renewal.

Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing and leading data collection and analysis for federally funded collaborations, which includes a variety of tasks and methods including eye tracking, touchscreen tasks, externally validated normed measures, and naturalistic play tasks.
• Maintaining a clear, written protocol and record of any modifications to the study
• Uploading and managing sensitive participant data
• Writing and collaborating on research papers and presentations
• Assisting in training research assistants at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Collaborating and communicating with multiple stakeholders, including our external collaborators and the internal IRB.

Required Qualifications:

• Applicants must have obtained or be in the process of obtaining a doctoral degree in developmental psychology, human development, or a related field.
• Strong written communication and experience with scientific writing and publication.
• Experience overseeing research assistants; and demonstrated ability to work well independently and collaboratively.       
• Experience working in research with young children and toddlers.
• Experience in quantitative analysis, preferably in the R software language.
• Familiarity with current research in spatial and cognitive development

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with eye tracking methods and developing eye tracking tasks
• Familiarity with reproducible and open research methods
• Familiarity with longitudinal research design and statistical analyses
• Interest in furthering research into children’s development of spatial and other cognitive skills
