The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Laboratory of Plasma Studies at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York are looking to appoint an Assistant Research Professor. The successful candidate should have a PhD in Physics or Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Plasma Physics and 3-4 years’ experience working in the area of experimental High Energy Density Physics. The candidate should have a background in pulsed power technology and plasma diagnostic techniques such as laser interferometry, Thomson scattering, x-ray imaging, x-ray and optical spectroscopy, and Faraday rotation polarimetry. Additionally, a working knowledge of scientific computing in languages such as Python and MATLAB with applications including but not limited to experimental data analysis and development of numerical models to compliment the experimental observations is desired. The job will also entail supervising MS, MEng and PhD students and working with the Director of the Laboratory of Plasma Studies on the overall research programs of the Laboratory.
