Anatomy Faculty Positions in Biomedical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine

The Department of Biomedical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University is recruiting anatomy faculty (track and rank open) to provide instruction and shared leadership in Foundation Course I, The Animal Body.  This is a multidisciplinary, problem-based learning anatomy course that covers the animal body at the levels of systems, compartments, and spatial and structural organization; organ systems at the tissue, cellular and organelle level; and body features relevant to non-invasive and invasive diagnostic procedures.  Attention is given to body functions supported by anatomical features.  Learning occurs in the classroom, small group case-based discussions, and in dissection and computer-based histology and imaging labs. Additional teaching in elective anatomy and other courses will depend on track and applicant expertise. Faculty develop teaching innovations in collaboration with our Educational Support Services staff.

Applicants with a teaching focus and/or basic or applied research programs are encouraged to apply.  The Department of Biomedical Sciences serves as a hub for many campus-wide centers that support various research areas, and has working groups in areas including biomechanics, single cell genomics, transcriptional regulation, DNA replication, recombination and repair, and others. The department is home to the Clinical Pathology Section and anatomy-oriented members collaborate with clinical faculty in the Diagnostic Imaging, Anesthesia, Surgery and Sports Medicine Sections. The university has outstanding research resources for genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, microscopy, CT and ultrasound imaging, flow cytometry, computational biology, proteomics and metabolomics.

Qualifications include: a PhD in a biomedical science field related to anatomy; and/or research or teaching experience in applied medicine; and/or a DVM or other medical degree with clinical, residency, or research experiences rooted in anatomy (such as imaging, pathology or surgery). A passion for teaching is a must.

Salary, rank and title will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
