The Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences and Clinical Pathology Laboratory of the Animal Health Diagnostic Center at Cornell University in upstate New York are seeking a clinical track faculty member to join our dynamic, vibrant and motivated team of residents and clinical pathologists. A DVM (or equivalent degree) and board certification or eligibility in clinical pathology are required for this position. All ranks will be considered. The initial three-year appointment is renewable with potential for promotion under established College of Veterinary Medicine guidelines.
Our mission is to provide diagnostic service of exceptional quality, teach our clinical discipline to veterinary students and veterinarians, and advance our discipline through resident training, critical thinking, and investigative research. We are seeking a forward-looking colleague who desires a career that will allow them to advance veterinary clinical pathology through the instructional and novel investigative efforts that are core to our mission as a section. This colleague will join an encouraging, supportive, interactive and fun group of clinical pathologists, trainees and laboratory technologists. The Clinical Pathology Laboratory is a high volume laboratory providing diagnostic service to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals and receives samples from international and national sources. We see a wealth of classic and challenging cases in diverse species and provide research support to investigators on- and off-campus. We offer specialized testing including flow cytometry and protein electrophoresis.
The individual in this position will devote a majority of effort to the diagnostic and teaching missions of the section, including examination and interpretation of cytologic, hematologic, electrophoretic, flow cytometric and urinalysis samples, teaching clinical pathology to veterinary students, residents, interns and veterinarians (continuing education). Some effort will be allocated for scholarly activities, including primary or collaborative clinical and applied research, publication of case series or case reports and book chapters, as well as service to the College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University, and the American Society of Veterinary Clinical Pathology.
Cornell is located in Ithaca on the shores of Cayuga Lake in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York.
