Cornell University’s School of Operations Research and Information Engineering (ORIE) seeks a Professor of Practice to support our Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree program and to teach in the broad area of operations management. Candidates should have education and industry experience relevant to ORIE, and be able to use that background to support the educational mission of the school. The ORIE M.Eng. degree program supports a variety of concentrations, and annually graduates 100-150 students.
We seek a candidate who can teach multiple courses for M.Eng. and upper-level undergraduates, as well as advise M.Eng. projects. The position also involves working with the Director of the ORIE M.Eng. program in roles including admissions, marketing, projects, and supporting student engagement, advising, and professional development. Candidates should feel comfortable in outreach to alumni and industry for M.Eng. project sourcing, recruitment, and guest speakers. Leadership potential within the ORIE M.Eng. program is desirable.
This position is non-tenure track and is envisaged to have a term of three to five years. The position is renewable upon mutual agreement. A degree – B.S. or M.S. or M.Eng. – in Operations Research or a related field is required. A Ph.D. degree in OR or a related field would be welcome but is not required. The candidate should have 10 or more years of experience in a combination of educational and industrial (private- or public-sector) work in operations research. Relevant experience could include work in manufacturing management, supply chain management, service operations, consulting, or related areas. Salary will be appropriate to qualifications and engineering school norms.
