A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the Roeder Laboratory at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY with a focus on researching Polyploidy.
Dr. Adrienne Roeder, Ph.D. is a Professor in the School of Integrative Plant Science, Plant Biology Section within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and a member of the Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology. The Roeder lab studies how plant leaves and flowers grow to the right size and shape, which is important not only for agriculture, but also has applications in bio-inspired design for architecture. They study how polyploidy impacts the patterning of cell size in the plant epidermis. A recent Cornell Chronicle article highlighted the Roeder Lab’s work.
We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral associate to develop a research project that falls within the goals of our existing NSF collaborative grant on Polyploidy that synergizes with the other team members, both within the lab and across the PI3 | Polyploidy Integration & Innovation Institute. Research will specifically focus on investigating the mechanism through which polyploidy affects the performance of the cells and tissues in their response to environmental stress, including limited nutrients, salt stress, genotoxic stress, etc. The ultimate goal of the grant is to identify commonalities and divergences of the mechanisms through which polyploidy affects performance across plants, fungi, and animals.
