HR Assistant-Boyce Thompson Institute

The HR Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of Human Resources duties focused on recruiting, employee relations, benefits, and administrative items.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

- Oversee the recruiting process

           Post positions

           Assist Supervisors with interviews

           Send offer letters

 

- Oversee the employee on-boarding process, including:

           Conduct new hire orientation and coordinate all training.

           Assist new employees with enrolling in Cornell services.

           Review benefits and retirement plan information with new hires.

           Initiate and ensure completion of all employee onboarding events. Process all new hire paperwork.

           Maintain materials for employee onboarding process.

- Oversee the administration of the Affirmative Action Plan, including:

           Compilation of affirmative action plan data.

           Development and execution of affirmative action initiatives.

- Respond to employee inquiries, and assist employees with employment issues, escalating issues appropriately to the HR Director as needed.

- Respond to all employment and income verification inquiries.

- Maintain confidential personnel files and other human resources records.

- Prepare monthly group insurance invoices for payment.

 

- Oversee the employee departure process, including:

           Send letter of separation and exit paperwork.

           Remove employees from BTI systems.

- Serve as a backup to the HR Generalist

- Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

- 2+ years of professional or internship experience related to HR Management

- High level verbal and written communications skills

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
