Open Doors English Summer Educator Job Announcement

 

Open Doors English seeks temporary part time English as a Second Language instructors for summer program. ODE summer teachers provide English language instruction to adult speakers of other languages for the six week summer session from July 5th to August 12th, 2022. Multiple positions are available for two or four days per week. Most are in-person positions for morning classes, with some online positions available in the evenings.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         prepare for and provide ESL instruction that is appropriate and accessible for students

·         monitor students’ progress and modify instruction accordingly

·         provide a positive, supportive learning environment with high expectations for students

·         deliver English instruction that is appropriate and accessible across communicative modalities (reading, writing, listening, & speaking)

·         maintain class records (attendance)

·         attend staff meetings as requested

·         maintain open and clear communication with ODE co-directors and colleagues

 

Skills and Qualifications:  (preferred but not required)

·         Experience teaching adults in a classroom setting

·         Experience teaching ESL

·         Experience learning another language and/or living in another culture

·         Certification in TESOL, Master’s in TESOL or currently in a Master’s program

Other:

·         ODE educators must respect students and their myriad cultures, languages, and experiences. ODE exists to serve a unique and vulnerable population, and it is essential for ODE educators to hold students’ gifts and needs in high regard.

 

Wage: $15.32/hour
